Advanced First Reponders (AFRs) hold a FREC 4 qualification or equivalent. Those AFR's with CERAD qualification are also known in NHS Ambulance Trusts as Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs), Associate Ambulance Practitioners (AAPs) or Ambulance Support Workers (ASWs). 

 

They can be a member of a front-line emergency ambulance crew, closely work alongside their EMT and Paramedic collegues, or in another role where more advanced assessments are required, above what a First Responder can offer.
